How to sublimate them?
To sublimate them is very easy! Below we show you step by step how the sublimation process should be done.
· Step 1
Use Mecolour sublimation paper and an ink that is specific to this technique to print the design of your choice. Art does not need
· Step 2
Cut it according to the template provided.
· Step 3
Set your Mecolour flat press to the correct temperature and time. We suggest 180°C, 180 seconds and medium pressure. To check the pressure, insert a teflon paper or bond paper on the flat base, close the press and pull the paper, if the paper “runs off” it is because the pressure is weak. If you are having difficulty closing the press, it is because the pressure of the press is strong.
Once the adjustment is made, close the press and wait for it to heat up.
· Step 4
With the press already heated, open and make sure that it has reached the desired temperature using the pyrometer (equipment that measures the temperature).
· Step 5
Preheat the frame for approximately 1 minute to prevent it from cracking when you apply pressure. When preheating, do not close the press completely, leave a space between the blanket and the picture frame.
· Step 6
Remove moisture from paper
· Step 7
Position the artwork on the back of the picture frame. Make sure the paper is positioned correctly and secure the sides using thermal tape.
· Step 8
Insert the picture frame into the press and place a Teflon paper on it to prevent it from coming into direct contact with the blanket. Close the press and wait for the sublimation process.
· Step 9
After 180 seconds, open the press and make sure that the substrate has reached the temperature between 150°C to 180°C using the pyrometer. If you have reached, remove the paper very carefully so as not to burn yourself.
If the temperature is below 150°C, close the press again and leave for another 10 to 20 seconds approximately.
Steps to follow for a good sublimation on glass
Now that you know how to do the process, it is important that you take into account some steps so that your product has a good sublimation. These are:
- – The use of an inkjet printer with SubliM inks.
- – Use Mecolour transfer paper.
- – Adjust the press according to the indications given in this article.
- – Preheat the product before sublimating it.
- – Use a blank of good quality and with a smooth surface for better fixation of inks.
The sublimation process cannot take place in a place where there is a current of air, such as a fan or air conditioner. If you live in a cold region, try to keep the place warm so that the frame does not crack with the thermal shock.
